Orchard Road isn’t just all “shop till you drop”. Asia’s most famous shopping road, Orchard Road is well-known for endless shopping malls. 1. Taste the World

Singapore is famous for its wide range of cuisines from all over the world. If you’re feeling peckish while shopping (or just want to pig out somewhere), Orchard Road’s the road for you. Enjoy cuisines from all over the world and prepare to be stuffed full. Some of the cannot-be-missed eateries include –

  • Jolibee: a popular Filipino fast-food chain with only 2 locations in Singapore
  • Nam Nam: a famous Vietnamese food chain with many locations all around Singapore
  • Shashlik: one of the few Russian restaurants in Singapore, it has recently been renovated and is said to be even better
  • Lucky Plaza Ayam Penyet: one of Indonesia’s most popular and best-selling dishes, get your Ayam Penyat fix right in Orchard Road
  • Tsuta: Taste the world’s first and only Michelin-starred ramen from Japan right here in Singapore

Aside from all these, there are also plenty of other cuisines available such as Thai, Western and Asian. If you’re feeling fancy, there are tons of other restaurants (and Michelin-starred places!) located along Orchard Road. 2. Visit the President’s Place



A 10 minute walk away from Dhoby Ghaut MRT is where current Singapore President, Halima Yacob, resides! The residence is called “Istana” which means “Palace” in Malay and this is the official residence and office of the President.

Beyond the white metal gates lies a six-foot high statue of Queen Victoria, four ponds, a Japanese cannon and much more. You’ll even be able to enter the residence on open-house days and have a quick wander around if you like. If you’re interested to enter the grounds, do remember to check the open-house days on the Istana website before heading down.

3. Evoke the Inner Artist in You – Explore Museums



If you’re a museum buff and love spending quiet afternoons in museums, Orchard Road is the place to be! Visit the National Museum of Singapore, the oldest and one of the most prominent museums in Singapore. And if you’re up for a little bit of walking, definitely check out 8Q SAM, the Singapore Art Museum and the Istana Heritage Gallery, all located within walking distance of Orchard Road.

4. Enter Different Dimensions – Through Books!


Ready to be transported into worlds and dimensions you’ve never imagined?

Visit one of Singapore’s most beautiful libraries right in the heart of Orchard Road! Located at Orchard Gateway, this public library was recently renovated and revamped and is now a popular hotspot in Singapore. Boosting an extremely modern design, the rows of curvy, white shelves is the most popular Instagram spot in the whole library and you’ll often spot people having a mini photo shoot there.

5. Scale the Highest Mountains through Via Ferrata


Impossible to miss, Via Ferrata is the tallest indoor climbing wall in Singapore. Rising to 30 metres over 5 floors of Orchard Central, you’ll definitely clock-in your weekly workout session just by attempting to scale this wall. And fret not, whether you’re a novice at rock-climbing, or an absolute pro, the instructors are well-trained and well-equipped! You’ll be in safe hands all whilst enjoying the panoramic view from up top!

6. Urban Farming


Visit Singapore’s first-ever commercial rooftop bar! Producing organic plants and herbs, Comcrop supplies their produce to some of Singapore’s best eateries and bars. On weekends, the place transforms into a community farm where volunteers and visitors are welcome as they give a tour of the place. If you’re interested to learn how to start your own mini garden at home, Comcrop will teach you how. Think of all the dinners you’ll be able to cook with herbs fresh out of your garden!

7. Become A Kid Again – Visit the Largest Indoor Urban Playground

8. Explore Everything Peranakan at Emerald Hill Road


One of Singapore’s most attractive and unassuming streets lies in the heart of Orchard Road – Emerald Hill Road. Here, you get to explore a Peranakan area of Singapore and admire buildings that have been constructed in the 1900s. Walk down the stretch of road, take great photographs of the buildings and admire how Emerald Hill has been preserved in contrast to the modernization of Orchard Road. There are also great bars with amazing happy hour deals and great finger food, so be sure to check Emerald Hill Road out!

9. View the Orchard Road Skyline


Need a breather from walking amongst what feels like a million people? Head to the very top of buildings in Orchard Road to catch a view of the Orchard skyline and enjoy some peace and quiet. Here are a few buildings tops you can access

  • 56th floor of ION Orchard
  • 11th and 12th floor of Orchard Central – Rooftop Garden
    On the 11th and 12th floor of Orchard Central, there are even little waterfalls and quirky animal statutes. There are also restaurants and bars located on slightly lower levels of both these rooftop gardens, so you’ll be able to spend hours feeling like you’re on top of the world. Entrance fees for both places are free.

10. History Buff? Visit Fort Canning


An iconic hilltop landmark, Fort Canning has witnessed many of Singapore’s historical milestones. Whether you love nature, history or music, there’s something at Fort Canning for everyone! Home to an underground military complex used in WWII (Battle B0x), a boutique hotel and a popular spot for music act, Fort Canning cannot be missed! To get here, just take a short walk from the bustling Orchard Road or Dhoby Ghaut MRT, you’ll be able to find peace and quiet here.
